The Essential Travel Checklist

Posted on Posted in Flight Travel

So, you’re packing your bags, all set to leave on a jet plane tomorrow. Right at that moment when you pull the zipper close, there’s always that feeling. That feeling of Oh My God, I hope I haven’t forgotten anything. Sometimes it may happen when you’re locking the doors and stepping out. It is an inevitable feeling with the majority of us. Especially if you’re travelling abroad, it becomes all the more essential to make a checklist of things that need be taken. You might forget something as trivial as a pair of earrings or your favourite socks, or it could be something as serious as your meds or your passport. When you have a checklist, it just becomes easier.

Whether you’re going on a short city break or visiting one of the seven wonders of the world, there are certain things you need to do before you leave. We have come up with a well-rounded list of all the things that you need to check before you set off.

The pre-plan Necessities

Make sure your passport is valid for a minimum of six months from the time you plan to travel. Always keep photocopies of your passport and make sure to carry at least one copy and keep it in a different bag than your passport.

Do adequate research on your choice of place. Read up on weather, culture, places to see, thing to do, popular hangouts, food and the like. Talk to fellow travellers online so you don’t miss out on anything while you’re there.

Get your visa stamped well in advance unless it’s a “visa on arrival” and get your travel insurance sorted.

The last-minute Checklist

This one is for the day before you leave.

Clothing – Depending on where you’re headed, pack clothes suitably. Even if it’s going to be warm, carry a light jacket. A swimsuit is a must.

In-flight entertainment – International flights are usually long and boring and not all airlines have the best entertainment. Carry a book, travel games, music, or just an open mind to chat up with random strangers on the flight.
